Stay in the Yorkshire Dales

Village life in the Dales

Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Malham oozes charm, whatever the season. Life feels slower here, the sunrise wakes the the morning chrous and sheep graze in dry stone walled fields, the way things have been for centuries. The village is nestled in Malhamdale with Malham Cove forming a breathtaking backdrop as you drop into the village from the nearby town of Settle. An all year round haven for walkers, come and see what all the fuss is about.

Malham Cove

At 70 metres high and with 400 steps to the top this crescent-shaped piece of limestone history is a unique spectacle when standing at the bottom and offers views across the Dales when you’re at the top. You may recognise where you’re standing from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Watch out for the peregrine falcons during the summer months.

A magical waterfall with fairy tales and clear waters that invite you in. Found in a small wood in the middle of the valley, the foss is a tranquil spot to unwind to the sound of flowing water, or go for a dip to feel the real benefits of the pool.

Gordale Scar

A jewel in the Yorkshire Dales National Park crown, this spectacular sight has inspired famous writers and artists like Wordsworth, Ward and Turner. With limestone cliffs of over 100m high, deep gorges and waterfalls at the heart of the ravine; it certainly is worth a visit.

It’s the highest limestone lake in Britain, and at 380m above sea level, it provides an array of species including the great crested grebe, moorhen, tufted duck and teal.

This is one of those rare pubs where everyone seems to be catered for: village green and stream to keep the kids happy, a decent range of ales for the beer-lovers, and home-cooked food that caters for the traditionalists and those with a fancy for something more.
