COVID-19: New Restrictions
Following on from the latest Government announcement we are happy to announce that we are re-opening from 17th May 2021 for both overnight leisure stays and food and drink.
You can book an overnight stay with confidence knowing that we offer free cancellations on all fully-flex rates up until 10:00am on the day prior to arrival.
COVID-19: Do I need to prepay for my room on booking?
We require credit card details when you book our fully-flex rate but only to secure your booking. We do not ask for full payment up front. Payment for your stay and any extras you have taken whilst you are with us will be required when you check out and not before.
COVID-19: Can I cancel my booking if things change?
Yes - whilst we really hope that you won't need to cancel your booking, on our fully-flexible rate, as long as you cancel your booking before 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. If you do need to cancel simply give us a call on 01729 830444.
Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.

The safety of our guests and team members is our number one priority so we have put in many measures across our properties to ensure our guests can feel confident when visiting and staying in our properties and our team members can feel confident working in them too.

COVID-19: Gift Voucher Extensions
Following on from the Government announcement on 4th January 2021, our inn will remain temporarily closed for all leisure stays.
Therefore, we’re extending all gift vouchers due to expire between 1st November 2020 and 28th February 2021 to the 31st August 2021.
COVID-19: Government Changes to VAT in Hospitality
We can confirm that the rate at which you booked your guestroom still stands and we would like to explain the reason for this.
The reduction in VAT is a great initiative which has been introduced to help hospitality businesses during these challenging times as per the guidance released from the Government. The full announcement can be seen here and below is a summary of the key messages:
“The government made an announcement on 8 July 2020 allowing VAT registered businesses to apply a temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT to certain supplies relating to:
- Hotel and holiday accommodation
- Admissions to certain attractions
The temporary reduced rate will apply to supplies that are made between 15 July 2020 and 31st March 2021.
These changes are being brought in as an urgent response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to support businesses severely affected by forced closures and social distancing measures.”
After sadly being closed for three months and the increased costs we need to absorb in line with government guidance, our business has been severely affected by the pandemic. This initiative is a huge support to our business and the hospitality sector as a whole and it also enables us to bring more of our valued team members back off furlough.

Can I hire the Lister Barn in its entirety?
Yes - you can book all eight rooms in our fabulous Lister Barn for your family and friends and have the place all to yourselves! We have special packages ranging from cakes and treats on arrival, to a full fridge of wines, beers and soft drinks for you to enjoy over your stay, to private dining to help you celebrate any occasion!
Do you hold rooms provisionally?
No we take a credit card to guarantee reservations and our cancellation policy then applies.
When is check in?
3 pm - if you're planning on arriving earlier please let us know and we can do our best to try to accommodate this for you.

Available at £10.00 subject to availability until a maximum of 2 pm.
Do you have travel cots/Z-beds available? Do you charge for it?
Yes, we have both available on request, free of charge. Additional guests over the age of two are charged.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Wi-fi is free and now available in the bar and dining room.
Is car parking available?
On site car parking – free of charge. If you're staying in the main inn or the cottage please use the main car park. The Lister Barn has its own private car park too.
Can you provide directions?
By road – 21 miles from the end of the M65, which terminates in Colne, Lancashire. It is well signposted from all directions, but care needs to be taken on the narrow country lanes. By rail – Gargrave train station is about 7 miles away and Skipton train station is 11 miles away; Local buses run to Malham from Skipton, via Gargrave, between Monday and Saturday. The Saturday service is the most frequent, with four return journeys throughout the day.
Are pets allowed?
Yes – We do charge £15 per stay for your dog to join you in your room; this is so we can give the room the extra special attention needed afterwards to ensure is pristine for the next arrivals. 10% of this charge is donated to SARDA (Search and Rescue Dog Association). If you wish to bring your four-legged friend along, please let us know at the time of booking and we’ll prepare your dog friendly room for you and your extra special guest!
Dogs aren’t allowed in the dining room; this is the only area our furry friends can’t access. If you want to dine with us and bring your dog then you’re more than welcome to eat in the bar area but tables cannot be reserved.
Is there disabled access?
The bar is accessible by wheelchair. Unfortunately due to the historic nature of The Lister building the restaurant isn't accessible due to stairs. We have three bedrooms on the ground floor available but are not fully accessible. However, we do have an accessible room in our brand new Lister Barn.
Is there a meeting room?
We're not really a 'corporate' type of place but if you're looking for team building and off-site adventures then the dining room can double up as small briefing room for the team- or you may want to think about booking the Lister Barn for exclusive use too. We are also happy to arrange hire and catering for you at the village hall just 25 metres from us.
Do you have cycle storage/drying room?
If you're staying at the inn, give us a call, and we'll be happy to accommodate and store your bike. If you're staying with us in the Lister Barn, there is a drying room for guest use.
All day dining
Our approach to food is simple – we work hard to source local and regional produce, prepared simply in-house and served in a relaxed and friendly, yet professional style.
We serve food from 8 am for breakfast and a full menu from 12 noon until 9.30 pm Sunday to Thursday then 12 noon till 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Our winter food serving times are slightly reduced - so please call for any further information.
The restaurant does get busy, so please do book a table with us if you’d like to eat there. Everyone is welcome to dine in the bar; we don’t reserve tables in this area.
The bar opens from 8 am to 11 pm daily; with the exception of Sunday when last orders are 10.30 pm.
What type of food is served?
Our menus offer an array of traditional dishes that you know and love. You can enjoy freshly prepared dishes to order using the best ingredients from local areas all bought from our trusted suppliers, including delicious cuts of meat, seasonal vegetables and cheeses.
Do you serve breakfast?
Served from 8 am ’til 10 am every day.
Can you organize packed lunches for the morning? What do we get and how much does it cost?
We’re happy to provide a picnic lunch for you to take when you’re for the day – a sandwich, crisps, cake, fruit and a drink is just £8.95, please book the night before if possible.
What is your cancellation policy?
As long as you cancel your booking before 10am on the day before you’re due to arrive, there will be no charge. Bookings cancelled after 10:00am on the day before you’re due to arrive will be charged for the first night’s stay. No Shows will be charged for the first night’s stay.
