The historic Lister Arms is a 17th-century coaching inn set in the heart of the stunning National Trust-owned village of Malham. For hundreds of years, we have been welcoming travellers, providing them with great food and a comfortable bed for the night. And that’s something we still pride ourselves on with our four silver AA stars – offering a traditional warm welcome, crackling fires, pints of ale, hearty dishes and at the end of the day a delightfully comfy bed for a fantastic night’s sleep.
Stay with us after a day in the hills and enjoy a night in a standard room with a well-stocked hospitality tray. Book a character room for after the day’s hiking. Stay in a feature room in the Lister Barn and relax in the secret garden during the summer or cosy up to the log fire in the barn lounge in the winter.
You’ll enjoy a proper Yorkshire culinary experience at our inn, with lots of hearty, wholesome dishes including our delicious home-made pies. Sample one of our award-winning ales with your meal or order something from our extensive wine list. While staying with us, you’ll see elements from our history as a coaching inn, including the mounting block where riders would climb onto their trusty steeds and inside, the original fireplaces, wooden floors and low beams. Mind your head.
We’re a pet-friendly inn, so bring your canine companion with you to share the experience. Contact us for details on how to book one of our pet-friendly rooms. With small touches that make you feel right at home, our warm hospitality and splendid Yorkshire Dales location make The Lister Arms an ideal place to stay.
If you like what you’ve seen or experienced with us, why not explore some of our sister hotels and inns? We’re proud to be part of the House of Daniel Thwaites - a wonderful collective of unique places to visit that are spread across Britain, from the Lakes down to the south coast.
We’re all surprisingly different but united by our desire to offer superb hospitality in our fabulous properties.
