Long known as Malham’s hikers’ bar, The Buck has been at the centre of village life since at least 1874, when local landowner Walter Morrison extended an old miners’ cottage to create a coaching inn.
Today, we’re a laid-back village pub that welcomes walkers, holidaymakers and our neighbours for proper pub lunches, family teas and post-hike pints. Small-batch cask ales from Thwaites’ craft brewery are pulled with pride on the bar – our brilliant brewers get really creative with their seasonal specials, so there’s always something new to try.
On the menu, you’ll find classic bar snacks, colourful sharing boards and hot sandwiches to eat with one hand while you’re doing the crossword, while comforting main meals include handmade burgers and pies served with sides generous enough to power you along the Pennine Way. Our chefs make frequent tweaks to take advantage of seasonal produce, but some things are set in (lime)stone: our Thwaites-beer-battered haddock, served with thick-cut chips and mushy peas, is such an institution that it belongs on the Malham Landscape Trail.
